Governor Aliyu Commissions State-of-the-Art North West University Teaching Hospital in Sokoto
Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has commissioned the ultramodern North West University Teaching Hospital in Sokoto, a significant milestone in the state's healthcare sector.
The hospital, founded by Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, is the first of its kind in the North West geopolitical zone. It was established following the Federal Executive Council's approval in May this year.
Governor Aliyu expressed the state government's commitment to partnering with North West University to enhance quality healthcare delivery in Sokoto State. He noted that the hospital will reduce the community's dependence on Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, for health course admissions and minimize medical tourism.
The Governor praised Senator Wamakko for his contributions to healthcare development in the state, saying his legacy will be cherished by future generations. He urged the hospital's management and staff to maintain high standards of professionalism and efficiently utilize the state-of-the-art equipment.
Senator Wamakko commended Governor Aliyu for his achievements and assured that the hospital will cater to the needs of Nigerians, eliminating the need for patients to travel abroad for complex medical procedures. He announced plans to admit medical students and establish a postgraduate school at the university.
The Vice Chancellor of North West University, Professor Mukhtar Umar Bunza, expressed gratitude to the Federal Executive Council for granting the institution a full-scale license and commended Senator Wamakko for his efforts in advancing the project.
The commissioning ceremony marked a significant development in Sokoto State's healthcare landscape and the North West region of Nigeria.
