The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed several universities to immediately begin processing their 2025 admissions following the expiration of the approved timelines set during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions held on July 18, 2025.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has directed several universities to immediately begin processing their 2025 admissions following the expiration of the approved timelines set during the 2025 Policy Meeting on Admissions held on July 18, 2025.
The meeting, chaired by the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, established strict deadlines to ensure a uniform and predictable academic calendar across all tertiary institutions.

Key Resolutions from the Policy Meeting:
✓ Public universities must forward recommendations of qualified candidates who chose them as first choice to JAMB on or before September 30, 2025.
✓ Private universities must submit recommendations on or before October 31, 2025.
✓ Admission closure dates were fixed as follows:
- Public Universities: October 31, 2025
- Private Universities: November 30, 2025
- Other Tertiary Institutions (Polytechnics, Colleges of Education, etc.): December 31, 2025
Despite these clear directives, JAMB expressed concern that several institutions have not submitted any admission recommendations through the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). The Board noted that some public universities ignored the September deadline, even though the policy meeting had directed that institutions not yet ready to resume should still process and archive their admissions in line with the schedule.
Institutions Yet to Commence 2025 Admissions:
➤ Northwest University, Kano, Kano State
➤ Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State
➤ Kano State University of Science and Technology, Wudil, Kano State
➤ Benue State University, Makurdi, Benue State
➤ Abdulkadir Kure University, Minna, Niger State
➤ Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna, Kaduna State
➤ Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, Oyo State
➤ Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Funtua, Katsina State
JAMB has therefore instructed the affected universities to commence their 2025 admissions without further delay, warning that failure to comply within the approved timelines will result in all unprocessed candidates being automatically moved to other available tiers of institutions for possible consideration.
