KHAIRUN Library Hosts Library and Information Science Students from UMYU
The Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN) Library on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, received students from the Department of Library and Information Science, Umaru Musa Yar'adua University (UMYU), Katsina State, on an educational excursion.
The delegation was led by the Head of Department and National President of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA), Dr. Lawal Gade Umar, alongside Dr. Muhammad Tukur Tokawa. The students and lecturers were warmly received by the University Librarian, Dr. Nazir Muhammad, and members of staff.
The visit provided the students with an opportunity to explore the library's facilities and gain first-hand exposure to contemporary academic library services and operations. They toured key sections and were introduced to practices and technologies that support efficient library service delivery.

During the excursion, the students observed library automation, digital information services, cataloguing and classification, circulation operations, electronic resources management and other innovative library practices. The experience helped to connect classroom learning with professional practice and deepen their understanding of the evolving role of academic libraries.
The library management expressed delight at hosting the delegation, noting the importance of educational visits in promoting knowledge exchange, professional development and collaboration among universities.
The excursion offered a valuable platform for learning and professional interaction, reinforcing the importance of practical exposure in preparing future library and information professionals.
