LASU Reaffirms Dress Code Policy, Urges Staff Support in Enforcement Drive

Lagos State University has restated its commitment to maintaining discipline, decency, and proper decorum across its campuses, reinforcing its policy on indecent dressing and calling on both staff and students to support stricter enforcement.

The reminder follows a review by the University Security Committee at its 12th statutory meeting held on Tuesday, 15 July 2025, where a compliance report on student dress behaviour was presented. The report noted general improvement in adherence to the dress code among students, while also identifying isolated cases of non-compliance. It further indicated that some of these lapses are indirectly enabled by a few members of staff.

In response, the University Management emphasized that LASU remains committed to a learning environment grounded in discipline, responsibility, and mutual respect. It stressed that both conduct and appearance are central to the institution’s identity and academic culture, and must reflect its standards at all times.

The Management also called for collective responsibility in sustaining enforcement, urging staff members to actively support institutional policies rather than undermine them, whether directly or indirectly. It reiterated that the University is not only a place of academic pursuit but also of character formation.

The statement reinforced LASU’s position that maintaining order on campus requires consistent compliance and shared accountability across the university community.
