LASUED Conducts Practical Swimming Examination for 200-Level Human Kinetics Students
The Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education (HKHED), College of Science Education at Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), on Tuesday, 7th July 2026, conducted a practical examination for its 200-level students as part of the assessment for the course HKE 221: Skills and Techniques in Swimming.
The practical examination was designed to evaluate students' competence in the fundamental skills and techniques of swimming, with emphasis on four major swimming strokes: the freestyle stroke, butterfly stroke, breaststroke, and front crawl.
During the exercise, students were assessed on the correct execution of each swimming technique, with particular attention given to leg and arm movements, body coordination, and proper body alignment in the water. The assessment also measured the students' overall proficiency, efficiency, speed, and mastery of the various swimming skills.
Speaking on the significance of the practical examination, the course lecturer, Mr Joyi Sonayon, explained that the exercise aimed to determine how well-equipped the students are with the essential swimming techniques required for both professional practice and lifesaving situations.

He noted that the practical component of the course is crucial in preparing students for their future careers as Human Kinetics and Health Education professionals, equipping them with the skills, confidence, and competence needed to perform effectively and respond appropriately in water-related emergencies.
The practical examination reflects LASUED's commitment to providing students with hands-on training and competency-based learning experiences that prepare them for professional excellence in the field of Human Kinetics and Health Education.
