MAAUN, Mahsa University Malaysia Sign MoU to Boost Research, Innovation

Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria (MAAUN) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mahsa University (MU), Malaysia, to strengthen academic collaboration, promote research and innovation, and expand the global reach of both institutions.

The agreement was signed virtually on Tuesday as part of efforts to foster academic excellence through strategic international partnerships.

The MoU provides a framework for joint research and publications, exchange of faculty, researchers, and students, as well as the organisation of lectures, seminars, conferences, and other academic programmes.

It also seeks to encourage knowledge sharing, innovation, and collaboration in areas of mutual interest, while strengthening institutional ties between the two universities.

The agreement was signed on behalf of MAAUN by its President, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammed Israr, while Mahsa University was represented by its Vice-Chancellor, Dato' Dr. Shahril Bin Prof. Tan Sri Dr. Mohamed Haniffa.

Speaking after the signing, Prof. Israr described the partnership as a significant step towards international academic cooperation. He thanked the management of Mahsa University for the collaboration and noted that MAAUN currently offers 22 undergraduate programmes fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The Vice-Chancellor of Mahsa University said the institution, established in 1996, offers programmes from Foundation to Doctoral levels in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health Sciences, Nursing, Business, Finance, Hospitality Management, Information Technology, Engineering, and other disciplines.

Also speaking, Mahsa University’s Liaison Officer, Dr. Emmanuel Sunday Nelson, expressed confidence that the partnership would create valuable opportunities for research, academic exchange, and institutional growth.

In his closing remarks, the Head of MAAUN's International Office, Engr. Bashir Muhammad Garba, welcomed the agreement and expressed optimism that both universities would translate the partnership into impactful academic collaborations.
