NSUK Faculty of Administration Re-imagines Entrepreneurship Beyond Business Creation

The Faculty of Administration, Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), has held the 4th edition of its Seminar Series, focusing on the broader role of entrepreneurship in responsible innovation, value creation and human development.

The seminar, held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at the Faculty Board Room, was themed “Re-imagining Entrepreneurship Beyond Business Creation: A Philosophical, Speculative and Critical Framework for Responsible Innovation, Multidimensional Value Creation and Human Development.”

The event brought together Deans, Heads of Department, Directors, academic and non-teaching staff, as well as students, to promote intellectual discourse, strengthen research culture and explore innovative approaches to entrepreneurship and national development.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, the Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC), Professor Rashidah Funke Olanrewaju, described the seminar theme as timely and relevant to contemporary national challenges.

She stressed that entrepreneurship extends beyond business creation, noting its potential to contribute to responsible innovation, improved healthcare delivery, wealth creation and sustainable human development.

Professor Olanrewaju also highlighted the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in entrepreneurship and innovation, urging participants to develop practical ideas capable of addressing national challenges.

In his welcome address, the Dean of the Faculty of Administration, Professor A. D. Zubairu, commended the organising committee and emphasised the importance of entrepreneurship in advancing research, innovation and community engagement.

Delivering the keynote address, Professor Abdulsalam Jibrin of the Department of Entrepreneurship argued that entrepreneurship should be understood as a multidimensional process that goes beyond establishing firms to include social transformation, institutional renewal, environmental stewardship and human flourishing.

He described entrepreneurs as agents of transformation who challenge assumptions, reshape systems and drive responsible innovation towards sustainable development.

The seminar featured an interactive question-and-answer session, providing participants with an opportunity to exchange ideas on the philosophical, social and practical dimensions of entrepreneurship.

A major highlight of the seminar was the presentation of a Certificate of Excellence to Professor Abdulsalam Jibrin by the Dean in recognition of his outstanding contributions and support towards academic growth and development.

The seminar reaffirmed the Faculty of Administration’s commitment to fostering research, innovation, entrepreneurship and intellectual engagement as catalysts for sustainable institutional and national development.
