UNN Warns Public Against Fake Facebook Accounts Impersonating Vice-Chancellor
The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has alerted members of the university community and the general public to the activities of fraudsters operating fake Facebook accounts in the name of its Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya.

In a public disclaimer, the university said the fraudulent accounts are using the Vice-Chancellor's name, photograph, and other personal details to impersonate him and deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
The institution clarified that Prof. Ortuanya does not operate any personal Facebook account and has not authorised anyone to manage one on his behalf.
According to the university, any Facebook account or online platform claiming to represent the Vice-Chancellor is fake and should not be trusted.

The university advised members of the public to disregard any messages, requests, or solicitations originating from the fraudulent accounts, warning that they are the handiwork of impostors.
UNN further disclosed that it is taking appropriate steps to report and facilitate the removal of the fake accounts. It also urged the public to report any Facebook account bearing the name of Prof. Simon Uchenna Ortuanya as fake.
The university advised the public to rely only on the official University of Nigeria, Nsukka communication channels for verified information and institutional updates.
