NSUK Students Make History, Help Nigeria Secure Historic Olympic Beach Volleyball Qualification

Two students of Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK), Esther Mbah and Pamela Bawa, have helped Nigeria secure qualification for its first-ever Olympic appearance in beach volleyball.

Mbah, a 200-Level student of Science Laboratory Technology (SLT), and Bawa, a 100-Level SLT student, represented Nigeria at the African Beach Volleyball Championship, where they produced an impressive performance to secure the historic qualification ticket.

The achievement marks a major milestone for Nigerian sports and further places NSUK on the international sporting map, highlighting the University's efforts to nurture students with talents beyond the classroom.

The University said the feat reflects its commitment to holistic student development, providing opportunities for students to excel academically, professionally, socially and athletically.

The Vice-Chancellor of NSUK, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, congratulated the two athletes for their outstanding performance and patriotic representation of Nigeria.

Prof. Liman described their achievement as a source of immense pride to the University, noting that their success demonstrated the value of resilience, discipline, teamwork and determination.

She assured students that the University would continue to support talent development and sporting excellence, while urging Esther and Pamela to remain focused as they prepare for the historic Olympic stage.

The University community celebrated the athletes for their landmark achievement and commended their dedication to representing both NSUK and Nigeria at the international level.
