NYSC DG Urges Corps Members to Remain Hopeful Despite Economic Hardship

The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu, has advised outgoing corps members not to lose hope in Nigeria despite the current economic challenges.

Speaking during the distribution of certificates of national service to 2024 Batch B Stream 1 corps members in Bauchi State, Nafiu emphasized that Nigeria is a country filled with opportunities that can be tapped into to turn things around.

Nafiu, represented by the Bauchi State NYSC Coordinator, Kufre Umoren, encouraged the corps members to remain resilient and strong, highlighting the ingenuity and hard work of Nigerian youths. He urged them to think of ways to provide for and support their families, rather than relying on others.

The NYSC DG also emphasized the importance of appreciating parents' and sponsors' efforts, as well as recognizing the impact they have had on others' lives during their service. He encouraged those who participated in the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme to put their skills into practice and be proactive in shaping their futures.

A total of 1,054 corps members, comprising 584 males and 467 females, received their certificates of national service in Bauchi State. Nafiu's advice comes as the corps members transition to the next phase of their lives, with a call to action to make critical decisions that will shape their futures .
