OGITECH Launches Research and Data Analysis Centre to Strengthen Students' Digital and Research Skills

The Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, has launched a Research and Data Analysis Centre to enhance students' research capabilities and equip them with practical data analysis skills needed in today's technology-driven and knowledge-based economy.

The Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH), Igbesa, has launched a Research and Data Analysis Centre to enhance students' research capabilities and equip them with practical data analysis skills needed in today's technology-driven and knowledge-based economy.

The centre, which officially commenced operations on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, will provide students with free training in research methodology and data analysis, reinforcing the institution's commitment to academic excellence, innovation and workforce readiness.

Speaking at the launch, the Rector of the institution, Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, described the establishment of the centre as another significant milestone in OGITECH's drive to promote academic excellence and technological innovation.

He explained that the initiative was designed to equip students with practical competencies that are increasingly essential for higher education, research, industry and global competitiveness.

"Data analysis is a vital tool for driving technological advancement. This administration remains committed to providing our students with the best resources to compete globally," the Rector said.

In his welcome address, the Acting Director of the Research and Data Analysis Centre, Mr. Nojeem Adeleye, commended the institution's management for making the training programme freely available to all students.

He urged participants to maximise the opportunity, noting that research and data analysis are indispensable skills applicable across all academic disciplines and professional fields.

Mr. Adeleye disclosed that participants would receive hands-on training in IBM SPSS Statistics, one of the world's leading statistical analysis software packages, alongside practical techniques for qualitative data analysis.

"The centre is now open to all students who need support with their coursework or who wish to broaden their knowledge of research and data analysis," he said.

The launch featured practical training sessions facilitated by Mr. Olanrewaju Yusuf of the Department of Statistics, who introduced participants to the fundamentals of IBM SPSS Statistics and demonstrated practical approaches to qualitative data analysis.

The establishment of the Research and Data Analysis Centre further reflects OGITECH's investment in digital skills development, innovation and research-driven learning, positioning its students with industry-relevant competencies for success in academia, research and the global workforce.
