Sam Maris University (SMU), Supare-Akoko, Ondo State, has matriculated 413 newly admitted students during its second matriculation ceremony, recording the institution’s highest student intake since its establishment.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Francis Gbore, described the event as a significant milestone in the university’s growth, noting the institution’s continued commitment to quality education and sustainable development.

According to the university, a total of 522 applications were received for the 2025/2026 academic session, out of which 447 candidates were offered admission, with 413 students successfully enrolled. The figure represents a 58.85 percent increase compared to the previous academic session.

The Vice-Chancellor urged the matriculating students to uphold discipline, integrity, and academic excellence, emphasizing their role as future contributors to national and global development. He also reiterated the university’s focus on producing graduates equipped with practical skills, strong moral values, and global exposure.

The institution highlighted ongoing improvements in its academic environment, including expanded ICT infrastructure and foreign language programmes aimed at strengthening students’ global competitiveness. University management also reaffirmed its commitment to campus safety through sustained collaboration with security agencies while acknowledging the support of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, and other stakeholders.
