Tunisian Ambassador Visits Gombe State University to Forge Strategic Academic and Cultural Partnerships

The Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to Nigeria, who is also the Ambassador to the Republics of Ghana, Benin, Sierra Leone with Residence in Nigeria and Representative of the Republic of Tunisia at ECOWAS, His Excellency Mohsen Antit, has paid a courtesy visit to Gombe State University, signaling renewed interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation between both parties.

The visit was made in the company of Alhaji Ahmed Shaibu Gara and the Honourable Commissioner for Trade, Industry and Tourism, Hon. Nasiru Mohammed Aliyu.

Alhaji Gara formally introduced the Ambassador to the University Management, noting that the visit was aimed at exploring potential areas of collaboration.

The Ambassador expressed his delight at visiting Gombe State University and highlighted potential areas of cooperation. According to him, the proposed areas include education, agricultural development, research advancement, and cultural exchange programmes designed to foster mutual understanding and institutional growth.

The delegation was received by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, alongside the University Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Aliyu Bafeto, the Bursar, Alhaji Shehu Hassan, and other senior members of staff.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor warmly welcomed the Ambassador and his entourage, describing the visit as a significant step toward internationalisation and academic expansion. He provided a brief overview of the university’s history, growth trajectory, and academic achievements, noting that the institution remains committed to building global partnerships that enhance teaching, research, and innovation.

Professor Yauta also expressed appreciation to the Governor of Gombe State, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya (CON), for his administration’s commitment to the development of the university and his effect in ensuring the university contributes to the state’s progress.

He further thanked Alhaji Ahmed Shaibu Gara for his continued interest in the development of the university and for facilitating international engagements aimed at strengthening its global outlook.

The visit concluded on a positive note, with both parties expressing optimism about future academic, cultural, and institutional cooperation between Gombe State University and institutions in the Republic of Tunisia.
