UCH Ibadan Department Of Medicine Honours Prof. Oladapo

The Department of Medicine, University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, hosted a valedictory dinner in honour of Prof. Olulola Oladapo on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Jericho, Ibadan.
Prof. Olulola Oladapo is the immediate past Head of Cardiology Unit, Department of Medicine, University College Hospital Ibadan. Over the years, she contributed immensely to patient care, the training of residents, and the expansion of cardiology services at UCH. She is widely regarded for her commitment to evidence-based practice and for championing women’s leadership in medicine.
The event brought together consultants from different units in Medicine to celebrate a career defined by excellence, mentorship, and service.
In his welcome address, the Head of Department of Medicine, Prof. Adewole Adebiyi, expressed gratitude to everyone for turning out to celebrate Prof. Oladapo. He described her as a diligent, visionary, and dedicated leader whose impact transcends clinical practice.
Speaking, Prof. Abiodun Adeoye eulogized Prof. Oladapo’s remarkable contributions.
“Her resilience, compassion, and outstanding leadership skills remain a reference point for all of us. She built people, built systems, and built the specialty. We are proud of her legacy,” he stated.
Prof. Taiwo Lawal, The Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, in his remarks, commended Prof. Oladapo for her resilience and decades of selfless service to the department.
“Her contribution cannot be overlooked. She set a standard of excellence in patient care, teaching, and research that will continue to inspire the younger generation,” he said.
The Chief Medical Director of UCH, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, in his response described Prof. Oladapo as “a very supportive leader with a very good heart.”
He added, “Her God-given knowledge, mentorship, and contributions to the advancement of the Department of Medicine and to patient care will remain a lasting legacy not only in UCH, but in Nigerian medicine.
