UI Senior Staff Club to Host 2025 Triangular Games
The University of Ibadan Senior Staff Club is to host the 2025 Triangular Games and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp, has assured that the institution would give necessary support towards achieving a remarkable success in the 2025 edition of the Triangular Games
He gave this assurance while receiving members of the executive committee of the Senior Staff Club of the University of Ibadan during a courtesy call on his office.
Professor Adebowale reiterated that the University of Ibadan is the first and the best in Nigeria and is proud of her legacies of excellence, adding that the university management will continually encourage its staff to engage in recreational activities, sports and collaborations which keep the institution at the top of the league of universities.
He charged the executive committee members and the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the games to embrace linkages, seek strategic partnerships and support from individuals, philanthropists, companies and industries in the form of corporate social responsibility ahead of such annual events.
The President of the Senior Staff Club, Dr S.O. Oyamakin, who led the team, expressed his gratitude to the university management for the provision of solar inverters for the club’s facility amongst other support, stating that this has significantly enhanced the club operations and created an enabling environment for both academic and social activities.
He explained that the purpose of the visit was to formally inform the university management that the UI Senior Staff Club would be hosting the 2025 Triangular Games in November, 2025 and to seek the university’s support in ensuring the success of the games.
Dr. Oyamakin stated that the Triangular Games is an annual sporting event which brings together members from the Senior Staff Clubs of three leading Nigerian Universities: the University of Ibadan, University of Lagos and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
He said the Games represent more than just a sporting competition, foster inter-institutional collaboration, strengthen professional networks among senior staff across the distinguished universities, and promote healthy recreation that enhances productivity.
Restating that the Triangular Games is one of the most prestigious gatherings of the Staff Clubs of the three universities, Professor Olufemi Adegbesan, Chairman of the Local Organising Committee expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for his past interventions, which according to him has greatly stabilized the club and fostered harmony among members.
