The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has concluded a four-day workshop on grant writing and clinical research aimed at strengthening the research capacity of Nigerian academics.
The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has concluded a four-day workshop on grant writing and clinical research aimed at strengthening the research capacity of Nigerian academics.
The workshop, held from July 6 to 9, 2026, at the Cardiovascular Research Centre of the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, brought together scholars from Nigeria and the United States for intensive training in clinical research and grant development.
The programme was organised by the Institute of Advanced Medical Research and Training (IAMRAT) and the Cardiovascular Research Centre in collaboration with the Centre for Advancement of Research on Health in Africa (CARe-H Africa).

Participants received methodological training, mentorship, and practical grant-writing skills designed to equip them to lead independent clinical research projects.
The workshop featured Professor Gbenga Ogedegbe of New York University as one of the facilitators, while the Director of IAMRAT, University of Abuja, Professor Dike Ojji, served as the host.
Training sessions focused on key areas including research methods, clinical trials, implementation science, clinical epidemiology, health economics, as well as research governance and ethics.
