ACU Inducts Engineering Graduates into NSE, Charges Them to Harness Emerging Technologies
The Faculty of Engineering at Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, has officially inducted its graduating class for the 2025/2026 academic session into the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).
The 4th induction ceremony, held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, marked the formal transition of the graduates from academic training to regulated professional engineering practice.
The event was attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebunoluwa Oduwole, alongside prominent engineering executives, faculty members, and parents.

Navigating Digital Transformation in EngineeringThe Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Ademola Akinwonmi, described the induction as a call to duty that requires strict adherence to professional ethics. He emphasized that the modern engineering landscape is being rapidly redefined by disruptive, emerging technologies.
Prof. Akinwonmi challenged the new inductees to actively master and integrate these cutting-edge systems into their future practices:Artificial Intelligence (AI): Automating complex design systems and optimizing project workflows.Renewable Energy Systems: Designing sustainable power alternatives to meet global climate goals.Smart Infrastructure: Building interconnected public utilities to improve urban efficiency.Internet of Things (IoT): Deploying real-time sensor networks for predictive maintenance and data-driven problem-solving.
The Dean expressed absolute confidence that ACU has equipped the graduates with the technical foundation and critical thinking necessary to lead these innovations.Sustainable Entrepreneurship and Nation BuildingDelivering the keynote address on the theme "Innovative and Sustainable Entrepreneurship: The Evolving Role of Engineers in Nation Building," the Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology at the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho, Prof. Samson Ojoawo, urged the inductees to be worthy ambassadors.
He noted that the intersection of engineering skills and entrepreneurship is vital for driving national economic development.The event featured strong institutional representation from the NSE leadership, including Engr. Oluwaseun Adeniyi, Chairman of the Oyo State Branch, and Engr. Ayokunnu Ojedele, Chairman of the Ibadan Branch. Prof. Akinwonmi concluded by praising the NSE for its robust mentorship programs and thanking parents for their sacrifices in supporting the new engineering professionals.
