AKSU Senate Approves Postgraduate Students' Union, Appoints Interim Executives

The Senate of Akwa Ibom State University, AKSU, has approved the establishment of the Akwa Ibom State University Postgraduate Students' Union to provide a structured platform for representation and coordination of postgraduate students.

Following the approval, the university management has appointed an interim leadership to oversee the affairs of the newly established union pending the conduct of elections in accordance with the university's guidelines.

The interim executive comprises Ms. Favour Ukana, a PhD student, as President, Mr. Peter Udoh, an MSc student, as Vice President, and Mr. Princewill Umanah, also an MSc student, as Secretary-General.

The establishment of the Postgraduate Students' Union is expected to strengthen communication between postgraduate students and university authorities, while providing a platform for students to articulate their interests and contribute to the development of postgraduate education at AKSU.

The interim executives are expected to commence their responsibilities in line with the mandate of the Senate and work towards ensuring effective representation of postgraduate students.
