COOU Community Joins Omor Kingdom for Ịwa Ji Celebration with Igwe Oranu Chidume
The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) community, led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, fnipr, joined the people of Omor Kingdom on Saturday, August 23, 2025, to celebrate with their Traditional Ruler, His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. Oranu Chris Chidume (MON), Eze Ana-Ukwu, Eze Igulube of Omor, during the annual Ịwa Ji (New Yam) Festival.
The Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU) community, led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, fnipr, joined the people of Omor Kingdom on Saturday, August 23, 2025, to celebrate with their Traditional Ruler, His Royal Highness, Igwe Dr. Oranu Chris Chidume (MON), Eze Ana-Ukwu, Eze Igulube of Omor, during the annual Ịwa Ji (New Yam) Festival.

Igwe Dr. Oranu Chris Chidume, beyond his revered position as monarch, is the Chief Executive Officer of Krisoral Group of Companies and a distinguished member of the Governing Council of COOU. He has over the years demonstrated strong support for the institution, offering philanthropy and encouragement in recognition of education as a shared responsibility. His commitment to the University’s growth and development continues to earn him widespread admiration within the academic community.

Speaking at the occasion, Prof. Omenugha praised Igwe Chidume as a courageous leader, a father to his people, and a monarch whose dedication to education and community service remains exemplary. She described his courage as unmatched, noting that Omor is fortunate to have a ruler deeply loved by his people and committed to their welfare. She emphasized that the University community takes pride in identifying with him on such a significant cultural celebration.
