Crescent University Gives Standing Ovation to Chief Femi Okunnu

The Bola Ajibola College of Law (BACOLAW), Crescent University, Abeokuta, has honoured philanthropist and legal luminary, Chief (Dr.) Lateef Olufemi Okunnu SAN, CON, with a standing ovation for his enduring contributions to the College.

The Bola Ajibola College of Law (BACOLAW), Crescent University, Abeokuta, has honoured philanthropist and legal luminary, Chief (Dr.) Lateef Olufemi Okunnu SAN, CON, with a standing ovation for his enduring contributions to the College.

The Dean of BACOLAW, Dr. Saliu Jimoh, noted that Chief Okunnu was recognised in absentia for his endowment of the Femi Okunnu Library at the College in October 2012. His citation was highlighted during the College’s Momodu Kassim-Momodu Monthly Seminar Series, themed “Examination Malpractice as a Threat to Educational Integrity and National Development.”

A final-year student, Mujeebat Idris, read the citation, describing Chief Okunnu as a frontline lawyer, philanthropist, prolific writer, and editor of numerous publications, including Engaging with History (2003), Contemporary State Land Matters in Nigeria: The Case of Lagos State (2003), In the Service of the Nation – An Autobiography (2010), and The World of Islam in Turmoil (2016).

Chief Okunnu, a decorated alumnus of Crescent University, was also conferred with a Doctor of Science Honoris Causa in October 2012.

The Registrar, Barrister Zakariyya Ademola Ajibola, on behalf of the University Management, expressed gratitude to Chief Okunnu and other philanthropists for their support in advancing the development of the institution.
