Federal Government Mandates Final Year Project Submission for NYSC Participants Kn
The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced a new regulation requiring all prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to submit their academic theses or project reports to the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) as a prerequisite for mobilization or exemption from the scheme.
This directive, effective from October 6, 2025, aims to safeguard the nation's intellectual assets and restore credibility to academic processes and qualifications.
All Nigerian graduates, including those from universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and overseas institutions, must deposit their theses, dissertations, or final-year projects into the NERD platform.
The requirement is designed as a quality assurance check and a yearly independent proof of continuous academic enrollment and affiliation.
The President has approved an academic output monetization and reward mechanism for students and their lecturers, allowing them to earn lifetime revenues from their academic deposits.
Facilitating onboarding and data validation through Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) with critical data bodies like the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
