Federal University Gashua Issues Urgent Disclaimer Over Impersonation of Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yaqub Geidam

The Management of the Federal University Gashua (FUGA) has issued a formal disclaimer warning the general public of a fraudulent Facebook account impersonating the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Yaqub Ahmed Geidam.

In a special bulletin released on Monday, March 23, 2026, the university clarified that the Vice-Chancellor neither owns, manages, nor has authorized any social media profile bearing his identity for official or personal solicitations.

The notice, signed by the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations, Adamu Saleh, mnipr, urged colleagues, students, and the wider community to disregard any friend requests, messages, or financial solicitations originating from the fake account.

"Any messages originating from this fraudulent account should be disregarded and treated as a scam," the statement read. The university management emphasized that members of the public should refrain from sharing personal or financial information with the impersonator.

Legal and Investigative Actions

The university confirmed that the matter has been reported to the appropriate authorities, and "appropriate steps are being taken to address it." This move follows a rising trend of digital impersonation targeting high-ranking academic and public officials in Nigeria.

The Management expressed its gratitude to the public for their continued vigilance and cooperation in safeguarding the reputation of the Vice-Chancellor and the institution.
