Franco British International University Seeks Mentorship Partnership With ABU

The Vice-Chancellor and President of Franco British International University, Kaduna, Prof. Sabo Abdullahi, has visited Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, to seek mentorship for the new private university.

Prof. Abdullahi, who paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of ABU, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, on Friday, 18th September 2026, said his institution was licensed in 2023 and commenced operations in February 2025.

He said as an alumnus of ABU, he considered it appropriate for his alma mater to serve as the mentoring university for Franco British International University to make it a beacon of knowledge and excellence. He added that ABU is taking extraordinary strides in technological advancement, as evident in its consistent top performance in ICT competitions.

According to him, the private university currently has few departments and faculties, and hopes to expand with the guidance and assistance of ABU. He appreciated ABU management for its willingness to nurture emerging universities.

The Franco British International University delegation included the Director, Linkages and Collaboration, Alhaji Umar Alkali; Dean of Student Affairs, Alhaji Abdullahi Mairinga; Dean of Nursing, Hajiya Karima Dan-Malam; Personal Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Ibrahim Jibril Aliyu; and Media Personnel, Alhassan Ayasa.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of ABU, Prof. Adamu Ahmed, appreciated the new institution for choosing ABU as its mentoring university.

Prof. Ahmed said ABU has mentored many universities within and outside Nigeria, including Liberia, The Gambia, Sudan, Niger and several others in different fields. He expressed ABU's readiness to assist in advancing tertiary education and assured the team of support in whatever capacity needed, including access to staff, students and facilities.

The Vice-Chancellor was supported by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Bello Sabo; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Raymond Bako; and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Advancement, Research and Innovation, Prof. Aliyu Rafindadi Sanusi.

Others present included the Director, Academic Planning and Monitoring, Prof. Bello Mukhtar and the Special Assistant to the Vice-Chancellor, Dr Ibrahim Sani Kaita.
