FUE Zaria Council Appoints Shehu Iya Sa'idu as Registrar, Muhammad Kabir Aliyu as Bursar

The Governing Council of the Federal University of Education, Zaria (FUE Zaria), has approved the appointment of Shehu Iya Sa'idu, FIICA, FIPMD, as substantive Registrar of the University.

The Council also approved the appointment of Alhaji Muhammad Kabir Aliyu, FCCA, as substantive Bursar.

The appointments were approved at the Council's 3rd Quarter Meeting held from October 5 to 6, 2026, presided over by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Amb. Baba Ahmad Jidda, OFR.

Shehu Iya Sa'idu holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration and a Master's in Public Administration from the same university. He also holds a certificate in Data Processing and Computer Operation and has a Master of Philosophy in view.

The new Registrar joined the services of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, on September 17, 2007, and rose through the ranks from Administrative Officer II to Senior Deputy Registrar.

Sa'idu has served in several administrative capacities, including Secretary, Internal Security Committee; Administrative Secretary, Zaria Consultancy Ltd.; Pension Desk Officer; IPPIS Desk Officer; Head of Documentation, Disengagement and Pension Unit. He was appointed Overseer of the Registry Department in the defunct Federal College of Education, Zaria, in 2023 and became Acting Registrar of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, in 2024 following the upgrade of the institution.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrialists and Corporate Administrators and a Fellow of the Institute of Policy Management Development, among other professional memberships.

Muhammad Kabir Aliyu holds a http://B.Sc. in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a Postgraduate Professional Course in Accountancy from the Nigerian College of Accountancy, Jos, and a Master's in Business Administration from Ahmadu Bello University. He also holds qualifications in Cooperative Studies, Accounting and Finance, as well as Computer Appreciation and Packages.

He has extensive experience in accounting and financial management, having progressed through various positions from Clerical Officer Accounts to Senior Accountant, Principal Accountant, Chief Accountant, Assistant Deputy Bursar and Deputy Bursar. He has been Acting Bursar of the Federal University of Education, Zaria, since 2024.

Kabir has served in several committees and administrative capacities, including as Chairman of the Fact-Finding Committee on the Bursary Department, Chairman of the Special Committee on Harmonized Schedule of School Fees, and Chairman of the Committee on Review of Staff Strength of Casual Staff of ZAFEC Microfinance Bank.

The newly appointed Bursar is a Fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria and also holds a Fellowship from the Institute of Policy Management Development. He is a member of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria.

The two appointees have participated in numerous professional development programmes covering administration, financial management, digital transformation and institutional management.

With their confirmation as substantive heads of the Registry and Bursary Departments respectively, the appointments are expected to further strengthen administrative and financial management and contribute to effective implementation of the University's mandate.

The Pro-Chancellor, on behalf of the Governing Council, congratulated the appointees and expressed confidence in their ability to discharge their responsibilities effectively, urging them to uphold professionalism, diligence, integrity and commitment in service to the University.
