FULafia Management Backs NASU, Urges Adherence to Constitution

The Management of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Nasarawa State, has reaffirmed its support for the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU), urging members to uphold the union’s constitution and respect established rules.

The Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida, stated this when members of NASU visited his office recently.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Partnerships, Prof. Ibrahim Ogiri Hassan, Kida said the Management had no interest in the leadership or internal affairs of the union, adding that the Management was only interested in seeing lawful activities and peaceful coexistence in the institution.

Kida stressed the importance of constitutionalism, discipline and respect for laid-down procedures, urging members to channel their grievances through appropriate mechanisms.

He said: “Management has no interest in who becomes the chairman of the union. The members are responsible for their leaders.”

He advised NASU leaders to educate members on their rights and responsibilities, urging constructive engagement with the Management to prevent disputes.

The NASU Deputy President and Chairman of the Universities and Inter-University Centres Trade Group Council, Buhari Suleiman, thanked the vice-chancellor for receiving the delegation, pledging continued cooperation.
