FUNAAB Appoints Prof. Kazeem Bello as Director of IFSERAR
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has announced the appointment of Prof. Kazeem Bello as the new Director of the Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research (IFSERAR), anchored in the Department of Animal Production and Health (APH), College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM).
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has announced the appointment of Prof. Kazeem Bello as the new Director of the Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research (IFSERAR), anchored in the Department of Animal Production and Health (APH), College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM).
The appointment, approved by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, is for a three-year term effective December 1, 2025.
A memo signed by the Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi, highlighted that Prof. Bello’s elevation reflects the University’s confidence in his academic leadership, professional competence, and longstanding contributions to teaching, research, and community development.
Prior to this appointment, Prof. Bello served as Director of the Centre for Community-Based Farming Scheme (COBFAS), providing strategic leadership and enhancing FUNAAB’s mandate on practical agricultural training. He has also held key administrative positions including Manager of the 250- and 500-Seater Computer Laboratories for e-assessments and membership in the Teaching Farms Management Committee (TEFAMAC).
A registered Animal Scientist and recognized livestock expert, Prof. Bello has contributed to major national and international initiatives, including serving as Livestock Expert on CAVA II, Resource Person for the Ogun State Economic Transformation Project (OGSTEP) and Ogun State Development Programme (OGSTDEV), and Team Lead for Poultry Innovation & Transformation under the West Africa Agriculture Productivity Programme (WAAPP). He has also consulted on several livestock development projects.
Prof. Bello holds memberships in leading professional bodies, including the World Poultry Science Association (Nigeria Branch), the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science, the Animal Science Association of Nigeria, and the Livelihood Support Development Network (SLIDEN), Africa.
He succeeds Prof. Olusegun Idowu, who recently assumed office as Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
