FUNAAB Chief Engineer Appointed Director of Works and Physical Planning at Fountain University Osogbo

A Chief Engineer at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Engr. Rasheed Akanbi, MNSE, has been appointed as the substantive Director of Works and Physical Planning at Fountain University, Osogbo (FUO), with effect from July 1, 2026.

The appointment was approved by the Governing Council of Fountain University following what was described as a rigorous and competitive selection process aimed at strengthening the institution’s infrastructural and administrative leadership framework.

According to a press statement issued by the Ag. Head, Directorate of Public Relations, FUNAAB, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, Engr. Akanbi has served as Chief Engineer at FUNAAB since October 2021 and brings over 20 years of professional experience in engineering, construction, and facilities management to his new role.

He joined FUNAAB in December 2008 as Engineer II and has since progressed through the ranks, playing key roles in the planning, execution, supervision, and maintenance of several major infrastructural projects across the university.

Engr. Akanbi holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Minna, obtained in 2005, and a Master’s degree in Facilities Management from the University of Lagos in 2024. He also holds a National Technical Certificate from Government Technical College, earned in 1995.

He is a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), with Registration Number R28341, a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Registration Number 30120, and a member of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA), Registration Number 3030.

The statement further highlighted his extensive experience in managing large-scale construction projects, including Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund)-supported interventions, as well as institutional facility planning and maintenance across the higher education sector.

Mr. Olajide noted that Engr. Akanbi’s technical expertise and professional track record are expected to significantly support Fountain University’s drive toward sustainable infrastructure development and the creation of a world-class learning environment.

He added that the appointment reflects the calibre of professionals within FUNAAB, whose personnel continue to contribute meaningfully to national development across various sectors.
