His Royal Majesty, Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, Asoludero, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Land and Pro-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has commended the University’s Alumni Association for their unwavering dedication to the development of their alma mater.

The commendation came during the commissioning of a fully refurbished bus and a van—vehicles recently acquired and revitalized by the Alumni Association to support the University’s boarding services and enhance the Association’s revenue-generating capacity.

Describing the moment as “historic and deeply symbolic,” Oba Olabomi applauded the alumni for initiatives that strengthen both the University and the Association financially. He also lauded the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, for turning what was once a scrap vehicle into a fully functional bus, highlighting the project as a testament to innovation, resourcefulness, and FUNAAB’s “waste-to-wealth” ethos.

The Pro-Chancellor encouraged continued alumni engagement in projects that advance the University’s mission and operational capacity. The commissioning ceremony was held in the company of HRH Oba Abdulrasheed Abayomi Banjo, Olokinẹ of Ọjọwọ Kingdom, Ijebu-Igbo, and marked the formal handover of the buses for both Alumni and University use.

Prof. Kehinde praised the Alumni Association for transforming the buses into valuable assets, noting that the project reflects the power of collaboration, teamwork, and purposeful leadership.

On behalf of the Alumni, Global President Mr. Bolaji Gbadamosi expressed gratitude to the Pro-Chancellor and University management, highlighting the alignment between the alumni body and University leadership as a driver of FUNAAB’s accelerated development. He also shared updates on the upcoming harvest season on the Alumni Farm and reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to initiatives that positively impact the University community.

The commissioning was attended by members of the Governing Council, alumni leaders including former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) Prof. Kola Adebayo, the Director of Research, Innovations and Partnerships, Prof. Mutiu Busari, and other key stakeholders from the Alumni Ventures.

The event underscores the strength of alumni engagement in driving institutional growth and exemplifies the synergy between leadership, vision, and practical action at FUNAAB.
