Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Launches Maiden Journal, Unveils Departmental Website
The Department of Educational Technology, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, unveiled its maiden journal and departmental website at the University Auditorium.
Unveiling the journal and website, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Okechuku Onuchuku, described the world as a global village with the use of technology. He praised the Department for doing away with obsolete methods and inventing methods that will make classrooms very interesting and attract patronage to the Department.
Professor Onuchuku wished them well as they deliver on their mandate to make graduates well advanced in technological development.
While launching the departmental journal, the Registrar, Dr. Chinonye Abraham Ajie, lauded the Department for setting the pace for others to follow, wished them to grow from strength to strength, and urged them to keep it up.
The Head of Department of Educational Technology, Professor Stanley Mandah, informed that Ignatius Ajuru University of Education is the first university in the South-South geopolitical zone to establish a Department of Educational Technology. He said their voice would be heard through the departmental journal and through the website, that voice will travel the world and together open the global windows and doors that is called global visibility.

Professor Mandah expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for working diligently to ensure that the Department of Educational Technology was established through resource verification and National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation. He thanked all for investing in their mission and vision and in the shared goal of building the University to a world-class standard.
Speaking, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Professor Livinus Ogbondah, described the event as a great innovation focusing on global visibility of the University. He commended the Head of Department for putting in machinery for teaching and learning to be seamless.
He launched the journal with other Deans of Faculty in addition to Professor Reginald Amadi.
Dr. Ibiye Omieibi-Davids, in her speech, encouraged all to contribute to departmental journals and to start using instructional methods that fit the learner, whom she emphasised must acquire skills and hands-on experiences that will make them self-reliant and self-employed.
On his part, Dr. Uchechukwu Amadi explained that the departmental website (www.edutech-iaue.com.ng) has seven pages on the leadership of the University and the Department. It also contains the history, mission, vision and programmes of the Department where students can register, in addition to profiles of the twenty-five staff of the Department.
In her vote of thanks, Professor Keziah Achonye expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and Management team, Deans, staff and students for their presence. While thanking God for beautiful weather, she lauded the Head of Department for bringing the vision to reality.
