The Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, has directed all students to resume academic activities immediately and strictly comply with the institution’s 75 per cent attendance requirement.

The directive was contained in a circular dated September 25, 2026, issued by the Directorate of Academic Planning and Monitoring and addressed to Heads of Departments, course lecturers and all students through the Deans of Schools.

According to the circular, academic activities for the First Semester of the 2026/2027 academic session have commenced, with students expected to participate in lectures, practicals and other scheduled academic activities.

The college stated that registration for the first semester is scheduled to begin on October 11, 2026, while lectures are expected to commence on October 19, 2026.

The management also reminded students that the 75 per cent attendance requirement remains fully applicable.

Under the policy, every student is required to maintain a minimum of 75 per cent attendance in lectures, practicals, tutorials and continuous assessments to qualify to sit for examinations in any course.

The college warned that students who fail to meet the required 75 per cent attendance in a course will not be permitted to write the examination for that course. Such students will be deemed to have failed the course and will consequently have a carry-over.

Other Consequences of Poor Attendance

The institution further listed other consequences for non-resumption or poor attendance, including:

• Loss of Continuous Assessment (C.A.) marks.

• Denial of access to the school portal for examination card printing and course registration.

Deans, Heads of Departments and course lecturers have also been directed to commence and enforce strict attendance monitoring using the attendance register.

The college advised all students to take the directive seriously and comply with the attendance policy in their own interest.
