Kano State Emerged as Tops NECO SSCE Results

Kano State has emerged as the top-performing state in the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE Internal) conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO).

The state's students achieved outstanding results, with 68,159 candidates scoring five credits and above, including English and Mathematics, representing 5.020% of the national total.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's education reforms are credited with the state's impressive performance. The governor declared a "state of emergency" in education in 2024, aiming to rescue the sector from decay and neglect.

Governor Yusuf expressed delight over the achievement, stating that the reforms are yielding results and proving that Kano is on the right path. He reaffirmed his commitment to deepening the reforms and ensuring no child is left behind in the state's education system.

NECO reported a decline in examination malpractice cases, from 10,094 in 2024 to 3,878 in 2025, a 61.58% reduction.
