KolaDaisi University, Ibadan and ACSPN Oyo State have opened talks on collaboration in communication research, professional training, workshops and seminars.

The development followed a courtesy and congratulatory visit by the newly constituted executive members of ACSPN, led by the state Coordinator, Prof. Titiloye Oyeyinka Ojo, to the Vice-Chancellor of KDU, Prof. Olajumoke Morenikeji, in her office.

Morenikeji, while receiving the delegation, thanked the association for the visit and congratulated Ojo on his emergence as the state coordinator.

The Vice-Chancellor said effective communication was critical to the growth of any institution, adding that KDU was willing to explore areas of mutual interest with ACSPN.

She said, “We will look at areas where we can collaborate, particularly in workshops, seminars, conferences, training and research.”

Earlier, Ojo said the visit was to congratulate the Vice-Chancellor on her appointment and formally introduce the new Oyo State executive of ACSPN to the university.

He said the association was committed to strengthening the relationship between communication scholars and practitioners and promoting the development of communication and media practice in Nigeria.

Ojo added that ACSPN had been collaborating with universities and other institutions through research, workshops, seminars and academic and professional development programmes.

He said the association was interested in working with KDU in communication, research and professional development.

The Deputy Coordinator of ACSPN, Oyo State, Dr Waheed Bayo Busari, said the association was looking forward to a mutually beneficial partnership with the university.

Also speaking, the State Welfare and Logistics Officer, Dr Onaopepo Ibrahim, thanked the Vice-Chancellor for receiving the delegation and stressed the importance of effective communication to institutional growth.

The ACSPN executives also visited the Registrar of KDU, Mr Haruna Adetu, who congratulated Ojo on his emergence as the association’s Oyo State Coordinator.

Adetu thanked ACSPN for the visit, saying the appointment of one of the university’s professors to lead the association in the state would provide an opportunity for sustained engagement between KDU and the professional body.
