KSP Management Expresses Confidence in Kano Assembly Committee on Higher Education

The Management of Kano State Polytechnic, KSP, has expressed confidence in the leadership and composition of the Kano State House of Assembly Committee on Higher Education, chaired by Hon. Dr. Ali Lawan Alhassan, member representing Shanono/Bagwai Constituency.  

This was stated by the Rector, Dr. Abubakar Umar Farouk, FCA, who was represented by the Director of Academic Planning, Research and Innovation, Engr. Dr. Comrade Ibrahim Usman Aikawa, during a familiarisation visit by members of the committee to the Polytechnic.  

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Aikawa highlighted some of the institution’s achievements and the challenges confronting the Polytechnic. He expressed optimism that the committee’s support would contribute to addressing them.  

On behalf of the Governing Council and Management, he assured the committee of the institution’s commitment to working collaboratively to advance the Polytechnic in line with the KANO FIRST AGENDA of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, the Majority Leader of the Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawan Hussaini Chediyar 'Yangurasa, thanked the management for the warm reception. He noted that as an alumnus of the Polytechnic, he remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at addressing the challenges presented by the institution and finding lasting solutions.  

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Dr. Ali Lawan Alhassan, emphasized the importance of strengthening institutions like Kano State Polytechnic, which have equipped thousands of young people with entrepreneurial and technical skills for self-reliance and meaningful contributions to society.  

He noted that empowering youths through quality education and skills acquisition remains vital in addressing social challenges, including drug abuse and its associated consequences.

Hon. Ali assured the management of the committee’s commitment to supporting policies and initiatives that would bring positive transformation to the state’s tertiary education sector.  

Those present during the visit included the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mal. Mukhtar Ibrahim Bello, Falakin Kano; the Polytechnic Bursar, Muhammad Aminu Shu'aibu; the Polytechnic Librarian, Mal. Gazali Saleh; Directors, Coordinators, leaders of staff unions, and other members of staff.
