LASU Disowns Purported Sign-Out Party, Condemns Unauthorised Use of Vice-Chancellor's Image

The management of Lagos State University (LASU) has distanced itself from a flyer circulating on social media promoting a purported "Official Sign-Out Party" allegedly scheduled to hold on June 19, 2026, in the Igboelerin area of Lagos.

In a disclaimer issued by the university, management stated that the event is neither organised, endorsed, nor supported by the institution and that the use of the image and name of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, was done without her knowledge or approval.

According to the university, neither the Vice-Chancellor nor the institution has any involvement in the planning, sponsorship, or execution of the event, contrary to the impression created by the promotional material.

The university further warned that it would not be held responsible for any security incidents, financial losses, or other adverse consequences that may arise from participation in the event.

Management reiterated its strong disapproval of the unauthorised use of the Vice-Chancellor's image and stressed the need for members of the public to verify information relating to university activities through official communication channels.

The disclaimer was signed by the Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations, Mrs. Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, on behalf of the university management.
