LASU Unveils Tier-Three Data Centre to Strengthen Digital Infrastructure
Lagos State University (LASU) has officially commissioned the LASU-ACEITSE Tier-Three Data Centre, a major technological investment aimed at enhancing the institution's digital infrastructure and accelerating its digital transformation agenda.

The facility was formally opened on June 18, 2026, in a ceremony attended by members of the university management and key stakeholders.
Speaking at the event, the Director of the Africa Centre of Excellence for Innovative and Transformative STEM Education (ACEITSE), Rasheed Sanni, said the data centre would significantly improve the university's capacity for data management, digital learning, research activities, and information security.
Vice-Chancellor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello described the project as a major milestone in the university's drive towards excellence, innovation, and technology-driven development. She commended all stakeholders involved in the successful delivery of the project and reaffirmed the university's commitment to deploying modern technology to improve teaching, learning, research, and administrative operations.

The Vice-Chancellor subsequently performed the official commissioning of the facility and led members of the university management on an inspection tour of the data centre.
Also speaking, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) and Director of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology, Oluwatoyin Enikuomehin, stated that the Tier-Three Data Centre would strengthen the university's information technology ecosystem, improve data protection, and support the delivery of reliable digital services across the institution.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Senior Deputy Registrar of ACEITSE, Michael Tadopede, who expressed appreciation to the university management, project partners, stakeholders, and guests for their contributions to the successful completion and commissioning of the facility.

The commissioning of the Tier-Three Data Centre represents another step in LASU's efforts to modernise its technological infrastructure and position itself as a digitally driven institution capable of supporting advanced research, innovation, e-learning, and efficient university administration.
