MAU and ADSU Sign Landmark MoU to Advance Research, Agriculture, and Healthcare Collaboration

Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, and Adamawa State University (ADSU), Mubi, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening collaboration in teaching, research, innovation, agriculture, healthcare, and staff development.

Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Her Excellency, Prof. Kaletapwa George Farauta, who witnessed the signing ceremony, commended the initiative and described the partnership between the two institutions, as a forward-looking effort that will advance education, scientific research, innovation, and human capital development in the state.

The agreement was signed at the permanent site of Adamawa State University in the presence of the management teams of both institutions, marking a significant step towards fostering academic cooperation and leveraging the strengths of the universities for sustainable development and knowledge advancement.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor of Modibbo Adama University, Prof. Ibrahim Umar, and the Vice-Chancellor of Adamawa State University, Prof. Augustine Clement, described the partnership as a strategic initiative that will deepen collaboration in research, postgraduate programmes, staff development, and institutional capacity building.

The MoU provides for joint postgraduate supervision, sabbatical opportunities, sharing of academic and research facilities, and other collaborative programmes designed to enhance academic excellence and research productivity in both universities.

The partnership also extends to livestock development, with emphasis on the use of artificial insemination technologies to improve local breeds, increase productivity, and contribute to food security. 

It further covers collaboration in medical and allied health sciences programmes aimed at producing more healthcare professionals and improving healthcare delivery within the state and beyond.

Other areas of cooperation include staff development through the Centre for Peace and Security Studies, as well as the expansion of agricultural programmes and research activities. Both institutions pledged to fully implement the agreement to maximize benefits for students, staff, and the wider community.

As part of the engagement, the leadership of both universities and the Deputy Governor, toured key facilities at Adamawa State University, Mubi, and explored additional opportunities for future collaboration.

The partnership underscores the shared commitment of MAU and ADSU to advancing academic excellence, impactful research, and community development through strategic institutional cooperation.
