Meet Udochukwu Chikezie Loveday, the 20-Year-Old FUTO First Class Graduate

Meet Udochukwu Chikezie Loveday, a remarkable 20-year-old who has just earned a Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology with First Class Honours from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Nigeria.

Udochukwu describes his academic journey as a "wild one," expressing heartfelt gratitude for every win, loss, and lesson learned along the way. His path to this significant achievement was set in motion years earlier by his father's bold decisions.

Entering the university at just 14 years old, Udochukwu navigated campus life with the help of his father's foresight. Ignoring comments and concerns about potential negative impacts, his father had strategically accelerated his schooling years earlier, promoting him from Primary Four to JSS 1, and later from JSS 2 to SS 1.

That courageous decision has clearly paid off. Udochukwu is now a First Class graduate at 20—a feat that would have occurred at age 19 had it not been for industrial action periods.

Interestingly, achieving a First Class was not his initial goal. It was during his 300 level, when his grades began to look promising, that he had a heartfelt conversation with his father. He made a simple yet powerful request: to dedicate the achievement of a First Class Honours degree to him. From that moment, Udochukwu made a vow to himself and his father—a promise he has proudly fulfilled.
