MOAUM VC Seeks TETFund Intervention for Academic Infrastructure, Infectious Diseases Control

The Vice-Chancellor of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, Prof. Timothy Terseer Alabar, has solicited TETFund intervention for strategic academic infrastructure and research development.

Prof. Alabar made the request during a visit to the Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Arc. Sonny S. T. Echono, at the Fund's headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.

He presented the University's priority needs, including construction of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and support for establishment of an Institute for Infectious Diseases Control.

The Vice-Chancellor said the projects are integral to strengthening academic programmes, expanding student opportunities and building capacity to respond to educational, scientific and public health challenges.

According to him, the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies is envisaged as a hub for modern communication education and media innovation, while the Faculty of Pharmacy will contribute to developing skilled pharmaceutical professionals and strengthening healthcare delivery and research.

He described the proposed Institute for Infectious Diseases Control as a forward-looking initiative to position the University as a centre for research, training and intervention in prevention and control of infectious diseases.

Prof. Alabar noted the requests form part of his administration's commitment to developing infrastructure that supports the University's academic mandate and contribution to socio-economic development.

Responding, Arc. Echono commended the Vice-Chancellor for identifying projects aligned with academic and research priorities, assuring that requests would receive due attention within the Fund's guidelines and resources.

He acknowledged the strategic relevance of the Institute for Infectious Diseases Control, noting initiatives that strengthen research capacity and address public health challenges are important to national development.

He encouraged sustained engagement and proper articulation of projects in line with TETFund priorities.

The visit underscores the Alabar-led administration's determination to pursue strategic partnerships to transform the University into a more competitive centre of teaching, learning, research and innovation.
