NAUS Official Comrade Samuel Agbelusi Commends Tinubu’s NELFUND Initiative, Seeks Institutional Support

Newly elected NAUS Senate Clerk, Agbelusi, has urged Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education to fully comply with NELFUND guidelines, praising the student loan initiative and calling for transparency and timely implementation.

He commended Akinteye’s consistent advocacy and unwavering commitment to protecting the interests of Nigerian students, particularly his efforts to ensure that the objectives of the NELFUND scheme are not undermined by administrative lapses or institutional non-compliance.

According to Agbelusi, while the Federal Government has created the platform for students to access educational financing, the success of the initiative depends largely on the willingness of tertiary institutions to faithfully implement the programme in line with its operational framework.

He therefore called on vice-chancellors, rectors, provosts, bursars, and other relevant institutional authorities to promptly process students’ records, comply with the NELFUND guidelines, and eliminate unnecessary delays that could prevent eligible students from accessing the financial support provided under the scheme.

“The vision behind NELFUND is to ensure that no Nigerian student is denied access to higher education because of financial challenges. I therefore join the NANS President, Dist. Comr. Babatunde Akinteye (BABTEE), in calling on all tertiary institutions to support the successful implementation of this initiative. By complying with the established guidelines, institutions will help ensure that students fully benefit from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s vision of making higher education more accessible, inclusive, and affordable for every qualified Nigerian student,” Agbelusi stated.

He further emphasized that student leaders, educational institutions, and government agencies must continue to work collaboratively to guarantee transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the implementation of the scheme.

Agbelusi reaffirmed his commitment, as Clerk of the Senate of NAUS National, to supporting policies and initiatives that advance quality education, improve student welfare, and promote sustainable youth development across Nigeria.
