NELFUND Assures Refunds for Students Affected by Tuition Fee Hikes

NELFUND has warned tertiary institutions against arbitrary tuition fee increases, promising refunds for eligible students and reaffirming its commitment to protecting the integrity of Nigeria's student loan scheme.

In a public notice issued on Monday, NELFUND expressed concern over reports of arbitrary increases in tuition fees and other institutional charges by some institutions, warning that such actions undermine the objectives of the federal government’s student loan scheme.

The public notice, signed by the Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, explained that the student loan scheme, introduced under the administration of President Bola Tinubu, was designed to eliminate financial barriers to higher education, not to impose additional burdens on students.
