NSUK Signs Strategic Power and Energy Partnership with Meyana Bio-Energy

Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Meyana Bio-Energy Company to strengthen collaboration in research, innovation, skills acquisition, and sustainable energy development.

The agreement, signed on Monday, July 27, 2026, marks a significant step in the University's efforts to deepen industry-academia partnerships and advance power and energy systems in Nigeria.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sa'adatu Hassan Liman, described the partnership as a timely initiative that aligns with the University's vision of producing graduates equipped with practical knowledge and innovative skills to address contemporary societal challenges.

Professor Liman commended the management of Meyana Bio-Energy Company for its confidence in NSUK and reaffirmed the University's commitment to ensuring the success of the collaboration. She said the partnership would enhance research, innovation, and capacity building while providing students and staff with opportunities to gain practical experience in the power and energy sector.

The Vice-Chancellor also reiterated the University's commitment to working with key stakeholders and industry partners to develop sustainable solutions to Nigeria's energy challenges. She expressed appreciation to Meyana Bio-Energy Company for its continued support and contributions to the growth and development of the institution and society.

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of Meyana Bio-Energy Company, Dr. Mer Best, praised the NSUK management for embracing the partnership and commended Professor Liman's leadership and commitment to academic excellence.

Dr. Best said the Memorandum of Understanding would create opportunities for grant funding, improve students' access to modern equipment, attract additional investments, and support innovative solutions to emerging national challenges. He also called for stronger collaboration among government, academia, and industry to build sustainable power and energy systems capable of driving national development.

The ceremony concluded with the formal signing of the Memorandum of Understanding by representatives of both organisations, symbolising their shared commitment to advancing research, innovation, and capacity development in Nigeria's power and energy sector.
