Igbinedion University, Okada, has received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence four new academic programmes from the 2026/2027 academic session.

The approval expands the academic offerings of Nigeria’s premier private university and provides prospective students with additional study options in intelligence and security, public health, healthcare administration and anatomical sciences.

The newly approved programmes are:

  • B.Sc. Intelligence and Security Studies
  • B.Sc. Public Health
  • B.Sc. Healthcare Administration and Hospital Management
  • PGD Anatomy
  • M.Sc. Anatomy
  • Ph.D. Anatomy

The programmes will be offered on a full-time basis at the university’s Main Campus.

The approval followed a resource verification exercise conducted by a panel of experts from the NUC to assess the human and material resources available at the university for the proposed programmes.

In an approval letter dated September 11, 2026, the Commission said its decision was based on the findings of the verification panel. The NUC also directed the university to maintain adequate resources for the continued development and growth of the programmes.

The latest approval adds to Igbinedion University’s expanding portfolio of academic programmes and reflects the institution’s efforts to broaden access to university education while responding to emerging national and global manpower needs.

The university said it would continue to maintain the standards prescribed by the NUC through sustained investment in qualified academic staff, modern facilities and an enabling learning environment.
