Obi of Onitsha Applauds UNIZIK VC’s Leadership as Peace Returns to Campus
The Vice-Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, has expressed deep appreciation to the Obi of Onitsha, Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, for his continued fatherly support and goodwill towards the university.
Prof. Anyaehie made this known during a courtesy visit to the monarch at his GRA residence in Onitsha on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, where he described the royal father as a pillar of wisdom and a strong advocate of educational advancement.
In his response, the revered monarch commended the Vice-Chancellor for his sterling leadership qualities, noting that the university now enjoys relative peace and stability under his administration. Obi Achebe thanked God for the emergence of Prof. Anyaehie at a critical time when the institution was grappling with leadership challenges.
The Agbogidi, expressed confidence in the Vice-Chancellor’s capacity to reposition the university for greater achievements, reaffirming his commitment to continually support the institution, especially considering its historic connection with the legacy of the Great Zik of Africa, Nnamdi Azikiwe.
The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied on the visit by the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Hilda Osisioma; the Registrar, Dr. Chinenye Gloria Okeke; the Bursar, Mr. Gozie Egwuatu; the University Librarian, Prof. Stella Anasi; the Acting Public Relations Officer, Mr. Njelita Louis; Special Assistant on New Media to Unizik Vice-Chancellor, Ekene Ezeumeanya and other personal aides.
