Obi Achebe made the commendation during a courtesy visit by the Vice-Chancellor to his GRA residence in Onitsha on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. The monarch thanked God for Prof. Anyaehie’s emergence at a time when the university faced leadership challenges, observing that calm and stability have been restored under his stewardship.
He expressed confidence in the Vice-Chancellor’s ability to propel the university to greater heights, citing his proven track record of achievements. Recognizing UNIZIK’s historic connection to the legacy of the great Zik of Africa, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Obi Achebe reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the university in every possible way.
In his response, Prof. Anyaehie appreciated the Obi’s fatherly support and goodwill, describing him as a pillar of wisdom and a staunch advocate for educational advancement.
