Professor Olukemi K. Amodu of the Institute of Child Health, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan (CoMUI), has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (RSB), United Kingdom.
The Royal Society of Biology is the leading professional body for the biosciences globally. It serves as a unified voice for biology, advising government, shaping policy, advancing education and professional development, and promoting public understanding of life sciences
Fellowship of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB) is the most prestigious grade of membership of the Society. It is conferred on individuals who have made a prominent contribution to the advancement of biological sciences and have held a position of senior responsibility for at least five years.
Professor Amodu is a Professor at the Institute of Child Health and a distinguished researcher in malaria immunology, molecular parasitology and childhood infectious diseases. Her work focuses on malaria pathogenesis, immunity and child health interventions in endemic populations, with over 140 publications and extensive citations to her credit.
She was promoted to Professor at the University of Ibadan in 2018 and has continued to provide leadership in research, postgraduate training and child health advocacy.

Her election as FRSB places her among globally recognised biologists including Sir David Attenborough and other leaders in the field, and entitles her to use the post-nominal letters FRSB.
The University community has described the fellowship as a well-deserved recognition of her academic excellence and sustained contributions to biological sciences and medicine.
