Professor Oyeranti Assumes Office as Dean of UI School of Business

Professor Olugboyega Alabi Oyeranti has assumed office as the Dean of the University of Ibadan School of Business (UISB).

Professor Oyeranti is a Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Ibadan, where he teaches and conducts research in development and environmental economics.

He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics with First-Class Honours from Usman Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, and a Master of Science and PhD in Economics from the University of Ibadan.

He has held several administrative and academic positions at the University of Ibadan. His previous roles include Director, Departmental Undergraduate Programme; Chairman, Departmental Examination Committee; Acting Head, Department of Marketing and Consumer Studies; Senate Member as a Congregation Representative; substantive member of Senate; and Member, Audit Sub-Committee of the Finance and General Purposes Committee of the University Council.

Professor Oyeranti served as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Nairobi under the Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR) Mobility Support Programme (MSP) for supervisors in the Collaborative Doctoral in Public Policy (DPP).

He has also served as External Examiner at Bowen University, Iwo, and as Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences at Precious Cornerstone University, Ibadan.

He was a member of the Team of Experts of the African Economic Research Consortium, Nairobi Collaborative PhD and Master Degree Programme Subject Specialist for the Environmental Economics Group in Nairobi, Kenya.

Professor Oyeranti has served as a consultant to national, regional and international organisations. He was also a National Consultant to the Technical Working Group on “Education and Manpower Development” for the preparation of successor plans to the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP 2017–2020) and the Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP) 2021–2025.

He previously had an affiliation with the Centre for Econometric and Allied Research (CEAR) at the University of Ibadan.

Professor Oyeranti is a full member of the Nigerian Economic Society and a member of the International Association for Energy Economics (IAEE).

He assumed duty as the Dean of the University of Ibadan School of Business on August 1, 2026.
