Redeemer’s University has proudly congratulated Dr. Timilehin Gideon Shaba for winning the 2025 Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences (NSPS) PhD Thesis Prize in the Mathematics & Statistics category, as well as the overall Best NSPS PhD Thesis award.
Redeemer’s University has proudly congratulated Dr. Timilehin Gideon Shaba for winning the 2025 Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences (NSPS) PhD Thesis Prize in the Mathematics & Statistics category, as well as the overall Best NSPS PhD Thesis award.
The announcement was made public on January 11, 2026, with the formal presentation occurring on February 10, 2026, during the 2026 NSPS Conference at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Kaduna State.
Speaking on behalf of the University, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Shadrach Olufemi Akindele expressed pride in Dr. Shaba’s accomplishment, highlighting it as a reflection of Redeemer’s University’s commitment to academic excellence and rigorous research. “We are incredibly proud of Dr. Shaba for this national recognition. His success is a testament to the culture of academic excellence and rigorous research that Redeemer’s University embodies. We congratulate him on bringing this honour to our institution and look forward to his continued contributions to the field of Mathematics,” he stated.
Dr. Shaba received his award alongside other distinguished scientists and academics, which included a ₦550,000 cash prize, award certificate, commemorative plaque, Life Membership of the Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences (LNSPS), a full Article Processing Charge waiver for one article per year in any NSPS journal over the next three years, and conference sponsorship for the 2027 NSPS Conference.
The NSPS PhD Thesis Prize is a highly competitive accolade that celebrates outstanding research contributions in the physical sciences, and Dr. Shaba’s recognition underscores his exceptional scholarly impact within Mathematics and Statistics.
