UDUS Student Emerges 1st in Africa, 2nd Globally in International Islamic Fiqh Program
A 400-level final year student of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), has recorded a historic academic feat, emerging as the best in Africa and second-best globally in an intensive international online program in Islamic jurisprudence (Fiqh).
The exceptional student, Hasan Sadiq Muhammad, from the Department of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, completed a four-month rigorous program titled Taaheel Fiqhi, organized by the Al-Buhuti Institute for Hanbali Fiqh. The program specialized in Fiqh al-Mu’amalat—the branch of Islamic law governing financial transactions, contracts, and social dealings.
The course, facilitated under the distinguished supervision of renowned scholar Sheikh Dr. Amir Bahjat, attracted participants from across the globe through the institute’s advanced online learning platform, which offers structured studies across the four major Sunni madhabs (schools of thought).

At the conclusion of the program, Hasan Sadiq Muhammad distinguished himself with a remarkable score of 90.97%, securing the position of 1st in Africa and 2nd globally among all participants.
Fellow students and members of the Muslim academic community have hailed the achievement as a moment of immense pride for UDUS and a clear testament to the rising intellectual contributions of Muslim students on campus.
Speaking on the significance of his accomplishment, leaders of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) noted that such excellence underscores the importance of combining dedication to Islamic scholarship with Western education, particularly in an era when a sound understanding of Islamic jurisprudence is critically needed.
The Taaheel Fiqhi platform is widely recognized for its commitment to authentic Islamic learning and its innovative approach to making classical fiqh education accessible to students worldwide through modern digital platforms.
This milestone further adds to the growing legacy of academic and religious excellence associated with students of UDUS and serves as a powerful motivation for other students pursuing Islamic knowledge across the globe.
