UNIOFFA to Confer Honorary Degree on Asiwaju of Offaland, Tajudeen Owoyemi at Maiden Convocation

The University of Offa, UNIOFFA, Kwara State, has approved the conferment of an Honorary Degree, Honoris Causa, on the Asiwaju of Offaland and Chairman/Founder of Avalon Intercontinental Nigeria Limited, Alhaji Tajudeen Owoyemi.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Kazeem Alagbe Gbolagade, disclosed this when he led members of the management team to the office of Chief Tajudeen Owoyemi in Lagos State on Monday, September 21, 2026, to formally intimate him of the Senate's approval.

The honorary degree is expected to be conferred on the prominent businessman and community leader during the university's maiden convocation ceremony scheduled for October 12.

Professor Gbolagade, during the visit, conveyed the decision of the university's Senate to Chief Owoyemi.

The visit also brought together prominent personalities and stakeholders from Offa and beyond.

Members of the UNIOFFA management team who accompanied the Vice-Chancellor included the Registrar, Salaudeen Ajibola Oyewale; Director of Academic Planning and Institutional Research, Dr. Abdulrazak Agboola Bello; and Head of Media and Public Relations Unit, Taofik Adekunle Jimoh.

Also present at the meeting were Dr. Waheed Olagunju, Aare Bobagunwa of Offa Kingdom; Engr. Kazeem Jide Olatunde, Vice President of Enterprise Sales at T2mobile NG and Chief Operating Officer of One Innovation Hub, ONEIH; Alhaji Musbau Olalekan Olaniyi, Aare Bobajiro of Offaland; and Dr. Akeem Oyewale, Chief Executive Officer of Marble Capital Limited and member of the Governing Council of UNIOFFA.

The planned conferment of the honorary degree forms part of the activities surrounding UNIOFFA's maiden convocation and represents a significant milestone for the relatively new institution as it prepares to celebrate its pioneer graduates.
