University of Ibadan College of Medicine Inducts New Doctors, Dentists
The University of Ibadan College of Medicine has inducted its 2025 graduating class of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) students into the medical profession.

The induction ceremony, held on April 1, 2026, marked a significant transition for the graduands as they formally entered professional practice in medicine and dentistry.
In his address, the Provost of the College, Temidayo Ogundiran, who also serves as Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the new professionals and urged them to pursue excellence with confidence. He charged them to contribute meaningfully to society, noting that the responsibility of service now rests on their shoulders.
The Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Fatima Kyari, represented by N. O. Abul, emphasised the importance of professional ethics, integrity, and honesty in medical practice. She reminded the inductees that medicine is fundamentally a service to humanity, requiring strict adherence to ethical standards.

Also speaking, the Chief Medical Director of the University College Hospital, Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, described the occasion as the beginning of a lifelong professional journey. He noted that the new doctors and dentists would serve as ambassadors of their institution both within Nigeria and internationally.
Otegbayo also acknowledged the contributions of parents, guardians, lecturers, and mentors, whose support and sacrifices he said were instrumental to the success of the graduands.
He urged the inductees to remain committed to preserving lives, responding effectively to patient needs, and continually updating their knowledge, while upholding the values and traditions of the University of Ibadan and its teaching hospital.
